70th Republic Day

26th January, 2019 
The fervour of freedom, the 26th January was celebrated on the nostalgic occasion of this red letter day in our Vidyalaya. The school band accompanied Principal Sir to the school ground where he unfurled the tricolour amidst a resplendent crowd of teachers, students and parents. With great pride the entire crowd sang the national anthem which reneberated everyone with the feelings of patriotism. It was followed by an inspiring speech by him in which he highlighted that we all should contribute to the nation in one way or the other as the nation doesn’t only belong to anyone king or higher authority but to each one of us residing here. After which a host of cultural events followed which included action song by students of class KG & I, patriotic song by class II to V students etc. The power and energy exhibited by the students was befitting to the occasion and arched their commitment and deduction and assured of a brighter future ahead. This was followed by house wise speech competition and patriotic song competition. The completions were judged by Smt. Jyotsna Didi and Smt. Mala Didi. Finally, the celebration was concluded with Vote of Thanks followed by Shanti Mantra. Total no. of parents and well wishers were 93 and students 195 attended the programme.

Vivekananda Jayanti Celebration
11th January, 2019: On the occasion of Vivekananda Jayanti, an interactuion cum question answer session was organized in the Vidyalaya premises. Man. Bhanudasji, the General Secretary, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari addressed the audience as speaker. In his address “Swami Vivekananda – a role model for youth”, Man. Bhanudasji narrated some of the incidents from the life of Swamiji. He encouraged introspection, as a way of remodeling oneself. He also stressed the importance of living a virtous life. He also directed the students to adopt Swamiji, as a model in their life and emphasized on the need to adopt the practice “Yoga” for a healthy body and the faith in “mantras, bhajans and chantings” for a peaceful and calm mind. The programme was also attended by Dr. Sristidhar Dutta, Dr. Kunjalata Deori and Sri Supratik Sinha along with parents, students and teachers.




12th January, 2019: A day long programme was organized on 12th January, 2019 to celebrate Vivekananda Jayanti and Annual Day. A Pushpanjali programme was arranged in the early hours at different places to mark the day. Students, teachers and well wishers attended the programme to pay respect to the great soul – Swami Vivekananda. Dr. Aditi Baruah, Associate Professor, Department of Sanskrit, Dibru College, Dibrugarh was the Chief Guest and Sri Dibakar Nath, IAS, Assistant Commissioner – Dibrugarh with Assam Secretariat was the Guest of Honour.   
 
Sri R. M. Thakre, Vice Principal, VKV Dibrugarh delivered the welcome speech. The gamut of celebration activities programmes included group songs, recitation, mime, bharat natyam and lot more reflecting moral and cultural values. The celebration was attended by a jam packed audience of parents, teachers and well wishers.

Annual Sports Meet, 2018-19
 (2nd to 5th January, 2019) 
The Annual Sports programme was organised in our Vidyalaya from 2nd to 5th January, 2019 at 9:30 am where the Chief Guest Dr. Sristidhar Dutta, Chairman, VMC, Dibrugarh accompanied by the Principal, Sri Ravindranath D. Savdeykar inaugurated the programme by hoisting the school flag. Principal Sir addressed the crowd and welcomed them. He also wished good luck to all the participants and the programme started. The best boy and best girl athlete of last year Kr. Lakhyajit Dowerah and Kum. Sneha Das ran the field with the torch (Krida Jyoti) as a mark to symbolise the light of spirit, knowledge and life. The four house leaders of Rani Lakshmi Bai, Veer Lachit, Rana Pratap and Kanaklata took the oath and march past the school ground with their respective houses. This was followed by a series of events which included a drill by the students of Class IV and V, a short demonstration of Martial Arts stances and a series of Yoga asanas showing different formations like lotus flower, tower, pyramid by the students of Class III to IX. The Chief Guest thereafter gave a speech in which he appreciated the schools involvement in the programme. He also highlighted the importance of holding sports events in schools for the overall development of the students and motivated and encouraged them to give their best performance. All activities were held class wise at the junior and senior level. Activities included in junior level were Spoon and Marble race, Biscuit Race, 100m and 50m race, frog jump, Mathematics Race etc. For senior level was Long Jump, High Jump, 100m Race, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Badminton etc. All the students participated with full enthusiasm. Kr. Priyam Phukan of Class VII was the Best Boy and Kum. Sneha Das of Class IX was the Best Girl. The Best House was Rani Lakshmibai House of the session (2018-19). After the prize distribution on the final day with a short closing ceremony the Sports Meet ended.
