Teachers Day Celebration
(5th September 2017)
The birth date of the second President of India, Dr. Sarvapalli
Radhakrishnan, 5 September 1888, has been celebrated as Teacher's Day since
1962. On this day, teachers and students report to school as usual but the
usual activities and classes are replaced by activities of celebration, thanks
and remembrance.
The birthday of Dr.
Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan was celebrated also in Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya,
Dibrugarh in a befitting manner on 5th September 2017. Students were
given the responsibility of holding the administration and its responsibilities
for today. A student of Class 12 science acted as the Principal and a number of
students from class 10, 11 and 12 acted as responsible teachers, conducting
classes from primary to secondary. After the classes ended, the real teachers
were felicitated for their contribution in the life of the students. Students
expressed gratitude and homage to Lt. Dr. Radhakrishnan in the morning assembly
through speeches made on his life and his contribution to Indian philosophy
education system.
Every year all the
Vidyalayas operating under Vivekananda Kendra observe the day in the same way.
The idea behind is to develop and motivate children to the noble profession of
teaching through which 'man-making and nation building is possible'.
